Great bridges, historical buildings and a worth past are what define Budapest, the Pearl of the Danube, and a source of inspiration for many artists. On this excursion from Vienna we'll tour Budapest from top to bottom.
Having picked you up from your hotel in the morning, we leave Vienna behind, hitting the road to Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Once there, we'll tour both Buda, where the Hungarian royal family once resided and the most elegant of Budapest's residential areas, and Pest, the economic and commercial heart of the city.
At the mid point of the tour you'll have free time to eat and enjoy the city.
In Buda, found on the west bank of the Danube, we'll explore its historic streets, taking in the Fisherman's Bastion, the Matthias Church and the Citadel, which boasts the best views of the city.
And in Pest, the more modern and commercial area, we'll see Heroes square, the City Park, Vajdahunyad Castle, the St. Stephen's Basilica the Opera, Chain Bridge, and the Parliament, the most iconic building in the city.
Then the tour heads back to Vienna, arriving around 7:30 pm at the Vienna Opera House.
