Mauthausen Concentration Camp Guided Tour

  • 1 review | 4 travellers
It was excellent. Worth every euro. Super interesting, well guided and explained. As a plus the guide spoke in Spanish and Italian and that was great because we bought the tour in English but we are from Argentina. I kindly recommend :)

Mauthausen Concentration Camp Guided Tour

At the designated time, we'll meet up on Operngasse Street in Vienna and set off toward the Mauthausen Concentration Camp Memorial. This memorial is a place of remembrance and education that bears witness to the atrocities committed during the dark years of the National Socialist regime. From 1938 to 1945, Mauthausen was the epicenter of a network of over 40 subcamps, where political, social, racist, and anti-Semitic persecution took place. Out of the approximately 190,000 individuals imprisoned here, at least 90,000 lost their lives.

As you embark on this tour, you'll be accompanied by a certified guide from Vienna who will provide essential insights into Austrian history and the events of the Second World War during the journey to the memorial. Upon arrival, trained educators from the memorial will guide you through the site, ensuring a meaningful and educational experience.

You'll have plenty of time to explore the grounds of this historic place. There are very moving permanent exhibitions including the 'Room of Names', as well as some special exhibitions. You can check out the details on permanent and special exhibitions at this link. You'll also have time to grab some lunch at the memorial's bistro if you wish.

After the tour, we'll head back to Vienna and drop you off at the meeting point after a total of 8 hours and 45 minutes.
