Tickets to the Heidi Horten Collection
Why Visit the Heidi Horten Collection?
The Heidi Horten Collection is the latest addition to Vienna's cultural institutions, offering viewers an exclusive look into one of the highest-quality private collections in Europe.
With your ticket to the Heidi Horten Collection, you'll not only explore modern pieces from greats like Gustav Klimt, René Magritte, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol but also experience a renovated inner-city palace, itself turned into a work of art.
The museum's permanent collection is particularly unique. The pieces on display were intentionally selected and voted for by museum visitors in a poll organized by the founder, Heidi Horten, creating a new form of participation with the audience. Works by Marc Chagall and Yves Klein can be seen year-round, but the museum also has temporary exhibitions rotating throughout the year.
Permanent Exhibition
Discover an exquisite selection of the most iconic works from the museum's vast collection. Carefully chosen by the museum’s own visitors, this curated exhibit offers the perfect opportunity to explore the most influential movements in modern art over the past century. From the golden elegance of Klimt to the bold pop of Warhol, you’ll travel through time and creativity in one unforgettable experience.
Experimental Expressionism. Schiele and Nosferatu
Until August 31, 2025, immerse yourself in a one-of-a-kind exhibition that brings together the raw intensity of German and Austrian Expressionism with the haunting visuals of early silent cinema. Discover striking works by Egon Schiele, Oskar Kokoschka, Helene Funke, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, and Emil Nolde in a powerful dialogue with iconic stills and posters from films like Nosferatu, Metropolis, and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. A captivating journey that fuses painting, film, and symbolism into a single, unforgettable visual experience.
The Line | From Drawing to Spatial Drawing
From September 19, 2025, to March 8, 2026, explore the expressive power of the line in a groundbreaking exhibition that redefines this fundamental artistic element. From delicate figurative sketches to immersive spatial installations, you’ll witness how the line evolves, breaking free from paper to inhabit and transform space itself.
A standout highlight is a site-specific installation by renowned Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota, who intertwines visitors' handwritten letters into a mesmerizing web of red threads, turning personal stories into collective memory.
The exhibition brings together iconic works by Klimt, Picasso, Warhol, Klee, Fontana, and Basquiat, alongside exceptional loans from artists such as Kandinsky, Duchamp, Vera Molnár, and Fred Sandback.

Heidi Horten's collection is open Wednesday through Monday from 11 am to 7 pm. On Thursdays, the hours are extended until 9 pm.
