Why Visit the Austrian Theatermuseum?
The Austrian Theatermuseum is located in the Lobkowitz Palace, an elegant Baroque building in Vienna. With this ticket, you'll have access to an exhibition of more than 600 costumes and props, drawings, and 700,000 photographs showingcasing the ins and outs of show business.
You can see an entire collection dedicated to the actor and director Burgtheater Hugo Thimig, donated by the writer Joseph Gregor. The collector and activist Stefan Zweig also donated his collection of poets' autographs in 1938. Will you be able to guess who each signature belongs to?
The museum also has a space dedicated to the world of puppetry, where you can see some of the works of the puppeteer Richard Teschner, a pioneer of the early 20th century. The crown jewel of the collection? The more than 100,000 books and publications on permanent loan from the Austrian National Library!

The Austrian Theatermuseum is open daily except for Tuesdays, from 10 am to 6 pm.

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Johann Strauss, the Austrian Theatermuseum will open its doors to a unique exhibition on the King of Vals until Museo austríaco del Teatro abre sus puertas a una exposición única sobre el Rey del Vals hasta el August 17, 2025. You can enjoy the grandeur of Strauss in the city that made his music a worldwide sensation.
