Vienna Central Cemetery Tour
At the appointed time, we'll meet at the entrance of the Vienna Central Cemetery to begin a tour of the most important cemetery in the Austrian capital. Throughout this visit, we'll delve into the life and history of the renowned artists who rest there.
This cemetery is considered the third-largest in Europe, after Almudena and Hamburg. We'll have the opportunity to see the tombs of Beethoven, Schubert, the Strauss family and the pianist Johannes Brahms. Viennese actors, painters, poets and footballers are also buried there. During the tour, we'll be sure to tell you some anecdotes about their lives that you probably didn't know!
In addition to seeing the Catholic section, we'll pass by the Orthodox, Protestant and two Jewish cemeteries, the oldest of which was badly damaged by the Nazis during the Night of Broken Glass in 1938. In the middle of the cemetery, we'll also find a church built in honor of Mayor Karl Lueger, a building that showcases the art nouveau style.
After a two-hour visit, the tour will end at the starting point.
