On this tour to Český Krumlov from Vienna, you'll explore this beautiful medieval village on the banks of the Vltava River as you learn its fascinating history.
Cesky Krumlov Day Trip
At 7.15 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Vienna to set off for Český Krumlov, a World Heritage Site located in the South Bohemian region.
Once we get there, we'll enter its imposing medieval castle, surrounded by a meander of the Vltava River. This fortress, whose origins date back to the 13th century, presents an ornate tower that we'll climb. When we reach the top, we'll enjoy spectacular views of the town. And of course, we can't leave the castle until we explore its charming Rococo garden.
Next, we'll visit a bear moat. Yes, you read that correctly. The history of bear-keeping goes back to the 16th century, during the era of the last Rosenbergs. But that's not all, within the walled castle we'll visit a Baroque theater from the 18th century presenting very complex stage machinery and centuries-old props.
On the way out, we'll explore the old town and stop in front of the gallery and museum of Egon Schiele, the Austrian painter who changed his art style by living in Český Krumlov for a time. We'll learn about him and much more during the tour!
Afterward, you'll have two hours of free time to stroll around the town at your own leisure. For instance, you can visit the late Gothic church of St. Vitus, the central square, and wander around its cobblestone streets. And don't forget to try some traditional food from the region!
Lastly, we'll drop you back at your hotel in Vienna around 5.45 pm.
